Yevtushenko has left us

Yevgeny Yevtushenko, a poet to whom even poets look up, passed away yesterday in Oklahoma. Yevtushenko was truly a poet who understood mankind and presented them in a way that made the listener understand mankind. His book "Bratsk Station and other new poems" proves this over and over. His poems are marvelous under many catagories. They are more than just "a simple poem" where rhythm and meter are appreciated. They show the pride he had in his people, his hope for them (and the rest of us) as a society.

"Striving for change for the better in our country gives us profound hopes. " Yevtushenko. And that is how his poems read.

He is reserved, my friend,
He is terribly reserved.
He is driven inward on himself,
the lid has shut down on him,
A Sigh (Yevtushenko)

Among my favorite poets. R.I.P., Yevgeny
