Understanding the Universe

Hey Lincoln,

I just wanted to tell you that I picked up a copy of your book and I've been reading it in my spare time (I'm about a 100 pages in). It's really good! I was a little sad that you didn't go into the history of the development of quantum mechanics but I can understand why not of course.

I'm looking forward to the holiday break where I'll have the proper time to finish it.

Well, thanks for the kind words. I of course avoided the QM history, since it isn't really germaine to the subject and it's already been done many times before. You'll find that as you exit chapter 2, the history disappears and it jumps into science. There is a second, briefer and more focused, set of history in chapter 7 and a tiny smidge in 8 & 9.

If you find errors, please point them out. I presume you know that there is a very long thread here in books about it.

BTW...I'll wave as I come through Schiphol on Saturday....

P.S. If you like book 1, you'll love book 2. (Well, maybe not, but XMAS is coming and I'm trying to drum up business.)

Hi Lincoln,

I ordered my copy of Book #2 some time ago from Amazon.com and they are still saying it may take another month or two to ship. So.... still chomping at the bit.

Best Regards,
Dave :^)

Well I have 2.5 books out there.

Book 1: Understanding the Universe (2004)
Book 2: The Quantum Frontier (2009)
Book 2.5: Understanding the Universe, revised/updated (2012)

And Book 3: to be submitted at the end of the summer, published in 2013.

So I presume that you are talking about the revised edition of UtU. It's certainly available...I have received some author's copies of it.

As you can see Don.. I got cheap and went with the paperback version. Actually, the only hardbound book I own is the Bible. I'm sure your book will be more informative...lol.

The hardcover version is crazy expensive. That was the price I paid to negotiate down the cost of the paperback.

I'll ping the powers that be.

Cheers....
